During this era, each party worked hard to make sure that its ideology dominated the world and spread as much as possible. Soviet Union wanted to expand the communism while the USA and other western world advocated for capitalism and worked hard to broaden the capitalism (Engerman, 2013). Discussion This ideological expansion led to armed conflicts and revolutions in some parts of the world including Korea and Vietnam. The conflict during that error has the same look as that experienced in the Middle East. In the Middle East, there is the conflict between western countries led by the USA and the local Middle East population in areas such as Afghanistan. The conflict is also as a result of the difference in ideology between the two groups. While western countries believe that maintaining their presence in this regions is vital for the security of the word and their people, armed groups in this region believe that the only way to attain sustainable peace is through self-rule and governance is the only way to achieve peace and stability in the area. The fight for dominance between these two groups is the primary cause of conflicts in the Middle East. Numerous events took place during the cold war. One of such events was active involvement of USA in supporting groups and countries that supported its ideology (Davis, 2015). The support occurred through Marshall Plan, which supported such countries to expand and rebuild along capitalism. Through the marshal plan, USA gave $12 billion to those states that agreed to shun communism through all means. The other event that occurred was active involvement of USA army in wars in Korea and Vietnam through the United Nations aimed to protect capitalist population within these states. Similar events have taken place an as conflict in the Middle East escalated. For example, USA has got involved in providing both financial and military support to Israel to help in the spread of its ideology in the region. It has also provided countries such as Jordan with aids in an attempt to compel them to support its course in the area. This move is similar to the Marshal plan. Analogous to the Cold War error, USA has been involved in armed conflict in the Middle East to sustain and protect its ideology. For example, it participated in the 2003 Iraqi war, to eliminate a regime that did not support its ideology, similar to the approach it used ...
